Orthopaedics is a surgical specialty which focuses on maladies of the Musculoskeletal System. Bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves constitute the musculoskeletal system.
Orthopaedic Surgeons are involved in the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injuries or diseases afflicting the spine, pelvis and extremities.
They often work closely with other health professionals like plastic surgeons, radiologists, Anaesthetists, physical therapists and orthotists in restoring the diseased patient back to normal function.

- To conduct high end research in Basic Sciences and Clinical Orthopaedics that empower the students and faculty to become excellent clinicians and Practicing Surgeons.

- To make the Dependent Independent - To provide comprehensive Geriatric Orthopaedic care and timely management of geriatric fractures
- To ensure the budding surgeons develop patient centric attitude in delivering the orthopaedic care in their future career paths.
